1. Create a New Composition.
2. set up the new composition and its final output.
3. From the menu bar select Layer > New > Solid
4. And add a new solid to your composition.
5. Click on the white triangle to twirl down the layer properties.
6. ... then click on the watch to set a keyframe for the position
7. Move the time-indicator to the last frame , then change the position of the square . By doing this you create another keyframe. Now,press the spacebar to see the animation.
8. Now we are going to apply a wiggle expression. Alt-click on the watch to open the expression editor, then put your curser inside the editor and write this expression " wiggle (10,26) " which randomly shakes the value of the property.(see after effects user guide :Expression) .
9. Click somewhere outside the editor to close it, then press spacebar to see the effect.
10. But we don't want to apply the expression to entire animation . we want to apply it just for a few second in the middle of it. From the menu bar open Effect > Expression Controls > Slider Control
11. From the wiggle expression in the expression editor delete the 26 but let the cursor stay after the comma, then click on the pick whip and drag it up to the slider.
12. Now instead of having the value 26, we have the vlaue of slider control/slider . so if you change the slider value you would have different wiggle per unit.
13. Now, to set a key frame, move your time indicator to the desire frame(here 40) then click on the slider's watch to set a keyframe ...
14. then move the time indicator to another frame(here 61)and change the value of the slider. your wiggle would appear between the set keyframes.
15. play the animation and change the value of the slider for each keyframe till you get a fine result.
