1. Draw a basic shape or a Heart like the picture below. ( to know how to draw a heart with

the Pen Tool please watch this http://www.animatrick.com/pen.html .

2. From the menu bar open Window > appearance.

3. ... open also Window > Stroke.

4. From the appearance palette open the palette menu button.

5. ... add a New Stroke ...

6. ... select your heart and change stroke's color to green ...

7. Add a New Fill ...

stroke7

8. and change its color to blue ...

9. select the first fill ( here the orange), then from the menu bar open Effect > Path > Offset Path ....

10. ... and set the offset distance bigger than given default. (here 15).

and select Round for the joining option and click ok.

11. Change the stacking order of purple stroke like the picture down here and open

Path > Offset Path ...

12. specify the offset path for the purple Stroke ....

13. .... and change the stroke's weight to 9pt or bigger ....

14. with this effect you can have more than one Fill and Stroke for an object .
